Water Crisis is an ongoing crisis that affects nearly 1 million people each year. India has only 4% of the world’s freshwater resources despite over 1.3 billion people. In addition to affecting the huge rural and urban population, the water scarcity in India also extensively affects the ecosystem and agriculture. The Jal Shakti Ministry has announced that it would be launching a 100-day campaign, with a mission to ‘catch the rain,’ that is, to undertake cleaning up of water sources and conserving rainwater. However, aside from the Ministry’s campaigns, only collective and responsible efforts can ensure water is conserved and saved.
India water crisis is often attributed to a lack of government planning, increased corporate privatization, industrial and human waste, and corruption. In addition, water scarcity in India is expected to worsen as the overall population increases to 1.6 billion by the year 2050. To that end, global water scarcity is expected to become a leading cause of national political conflict in the future, and the prognosis for India is no different. Regardless of improvements to drinking water, many other water sources are contaminated with bio and chemical pollutants. India needs solutions now.

Preventive measures for water conservation applicable to the house, at the workplace, the community measures, and Government's Role is mandatory. Fix leaky faucets as soon as the problem arises in homes. Use water-saving showerheads and fixtures for taps and toilets, and turn off taps when brushing your teeth or shaving. The best way for your community to curb water consumption is through awareness. Educate others in your community about efficient water practices, and spread this information to as many people and other communities as possible. Encourage people to be alert of leaking taps. Put a covering layer around trees and plants. Covering will slow the evaporation of moisture while discouraging weed growth and the soil from retaining moisture. Do not let the tap run while you clean vegetables. Residents can also become active members of local groups that seek to clean up and save lakes,” Parents should educate children about the simple water-saving methods around the home. Instead of saving it today people are wasting it at an increasing rate. I guess only 3% of the whole Earth is filled with pure drinking water which is used not only for drinking but also for another domestic purposes. As we are moving ahead the consumption is increasing along with its wastage.
Fresh, clean water is a limited resource. While most of the planet is covered in water, it is saltwater that can only be consumed by humans and other species after undergoing desalination, which is an expensive process.
Water is the most important resource. We require water for drinking, making foods, for cleaning our body & other household items, for constructions, paints. In spite of having 70% of the water on earth but only 1% of water is fresh & useable and other 97% of water is salty, 2% of water is in form of ice in the glaciers & icebergs.
